About World Volunteers Kenya (WVK)
World Volunteering Kenya (WVK), registered as Kenya Local Community Development Project (KELCODEP), is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization started to improve the quality of life in the Kenyan communities. 
 
We are Kenyan based-Organization facilitating between local communities, Organizations, and both international and local volunteers to participate in voluntary work in Kenya. 
 
There is quite a tremendous difference volunteers could make in helping local organizations achieve their goals in the areas of health, education and the local economy. 
 
We are based in Nairobi but run projects throughout the country. About the Position

The hospitality officer will be charged with the management of all hospitality services offered under WVK programs. This includes organizing accommodation details for all volunteers working in the various projects either as home-stays or in commercial accommodation faculties like guest houses. 
 
The officer will also be incharge of responding to any queries by the volunteers or partners regarding hospitality arrangements which include meals and food vouchers. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Book all volunteers at their appropriate accommodation options
  • Maintain proper documentation of all volunteers whose accommodation detail is being arranged by WVK
  • Handle and act on all feedback received regarding hospitality arrangements for any particular volunteers either from themselves or the service providers.
  • Ensure volunteers receive value from their money by giving market-rates advice to volunteers who wish to sought their own alternative accommodation options
  • Advice volunteers on the best accommodation options in the various areas where their project is based.
  • Ensure the proper running of our Short-term Nairobi hostel.
  • Prepare reports and submit them in a timely manner to the managing trustee.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
  • Holder of at least a Diploma in a hospitality related field. HOWEVER, work experience further outweighs the academic qualification.
  • Fluent in both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken)
  • At least 2 years working experience in a related or similar position in a corporate, non-governmental organization.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in frequent travel within the country.
  • Applicant must be below 35 years of age.

    i applied for this job and invited for interviews, on thursady but my worries are that they are asking to deposit 1250 for medical .alcohol test as they call it.then it raised my doubts because i was thinking if any company wants to conduct a medical check up they should cater for it fully. please dailyjobs can you investigate this company if its true. then i decided to call the company and confirm if for sure they want candidates to pay for the medical but nobody is picking the phone. i have called several times but nobody is picking.has anyone experienced the same?

      Please don’t pay anything. If they want a medical test they should send you to hospital. We will investigate.

    I applied for a job at this organisation and had my medical test done and an interview conducted. However, two weeks down the line I was not informed of the outcome. I have visited their offices but am told to wait for feedback. However, in their advertisement they had indicated that if you do not hear from them within two weeks you should consider yourself unsuccesful. Should I give up or should I wait as instructed?
