Role and Responsibilities

The duties of the lawyers will, inter alia, include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and vetting contracts, agreements, security and other legal documentation;
  • Providing guidance on the Bank’s litigation matters;
  • Liaising with the Bank’s legal service providers and ensuring external legal activities and engagements are coordinated effectively;
  • Researching and providing opinions on assignments;
  • Ensuring statutory and contractual compliance by the Bank; and
  • Assisting the Head of Legal Services with other assigned duties.
Minimum qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Law (LLB) Degree from a recognized University.
  • A Masters degree in law or Business Administration to be an added advantage;
  • Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Certificate of admission to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya and a current practicing certificate;
  • Good communication, research and analytical skills;
  • Good grasp of court and arbitration rules and procedures;
  • Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience preferably in a financial institution or a busy law firm acting for banks/financial institutions;
  • Have commercial/Conveyancing experience and particularly in drafting basic contracts, reviewing security documents, Leases etc,
  • Have some basic experience in preparing litigation files;
  • Have knowledge of the workings of the Lands and Companies Registries;
  • Must be a hard worker and team player, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision and be able to meet deadlines; and
  • Should have excellent organizational skills and analytical & computer skills.
  • Age: below 35 years
