Managing Director Job at Inades-Formation

  • Lead on securing stable funding for programs, researching and identifying potential donors (Foundations, Embassies, Bilateral organizations, NGOs, other non-traditional sources), coordinate new project and proposal development; research and follow up on appropriate opportunities, and play a lead role in building/maintaining relationships with potential, current, and past donors.
  • Provide leadership, in the development of Annual work plans and budgets, and ensure that the office is achieving its expected annual targets at all levels
  • Ensure that a programs’ monitoring and evaluation strategy based on technical and managerial indicators exists and champion the office team in the proper implementation of performance evaluations on an annual basis for the whole organization
  • Conceptualize and oversee the production of appropriate marketing materials on the organization’s work, in collaboration with program officers and administrative staff. This will include producing project fact sheets, sectoral and/or geographic focus brochures, past performance documentation, and others.
  • Ensure that the human and financial resources and property of the Organization are used in the most effective and efficient way and maintain the highest standards of quality and accountability through compliance with Inades-Formation management rules and procedures, terms and conditions of service, decisions and instructions of the Board of Directors and General Assembly resolutions
  • Ensure that appropriate books of accounts are kept by the Organization and order to be prepared annual audited statement of accounts for presentation to the Board of Directors for approval and forwarding to the General Assembly for final approval.
  • Ensure the timely production of relevant financial and technical reports, according to partnership agreements signed and reporting standards of support and donor partners
  • Ensure capable staff members are available to implement office strategy and operational plan, lead and manage the office team in a way that facilitates a high performance culture open trustworthy relationships and integrity, promote a culture of learning and development, transparency and accountability, employee engagement and good stewardship of human capital in the office, support initiatives for staff care and well- being

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, in one of the disciplines useful/relevant to Development – Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Studies, Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, , International Development, Micro-Finance, Environmental Sciences and others
  • Minimum of 3-years work experience in NGO management, development project management or similar position in a medium size NGO – 10 to 25 pax.
  • Experience in Strategic and operational planning in development work and Organizational development
  • In-depth knowledge of Rural development challenges in Kenya and good knowledge of National and International development policy environments and challenges.
  • Experience in staff management, staff capacity development planning and execution.
  • Experience in management of donor relationships and demonstrated abilit y in developing successful proposals, project planning, implementation management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting to Donors and Partners
  • Experience in building and managing strategic alliances, strong interpersonal/networking skills and assertiveness
  • Experience in financial management and internal controls, budgeting and monitoring of budget implementation, interpretation of financial statements
  • Experience and commitment to working in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Swahili (spoken and written), knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, good judgment and commitment to addressing poverty,

    especially in marginalized rural communities

    Terms and conditions:

    Attractive remuneration, commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, and negotiable on the basis of qualification and experience;

    The successful candidate will be offered a 3-years renewable contract, with one-year probation. Other conditions of service are as promulgated in the organisations Terms and Conditions of Service.

    The place of work is the head office of Inades-Formation Kenya in Machakos
