Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya Program is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following position, to be based in Kakuma Office.

Assistant Accountant

The incumbent will report directly to the Finance Officer, while working closely on a daily basis in collaboration with other finance staffs and sectors of LWF-Kakuma.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • To ensure the Financial well-being and integrity of LWF work in Kakuma
  • Field payments for casual labors.
  • Maintain cash and bank book in the computerized environment and familiar with manual book- keeping.
  • Reconciliations of banks/ cash account and various accounts.
  • Prepare bank/ cash and Journal vouchers and familiar on supporting/ process required for accounting.
  • Bank/ cash payments ensuring all relevant supporting attached.
  • Track various balance sheet accounts and doing debtors/ creditors balance aging.
Person Specifications/Qualifications:
  • Possess at least CPA II;
  • At least three (2) years working experience
  • Good computer skills – MS Word/ Excel and familiar with any accounting package (preference with ACCPAC accounting software)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of finance profession.
  • Capacity of good communication and coordination skills
  • Mature and diplomatic with respect for local cultures
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili languages, Turkana language will be added advantage
  • Capacity to work as a team and in multicultural environment.
