Job Description

One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; we are seeking an individual to take position in the organization as a Finance Assistant to be based in Bungoma Western Kenya.  
One Acre Fund is looking for experienced, talented and candidates who are committed to making a difference in farmers’ lives.

Good computer keyboard skills- Proficient in excel

Primary Duties of Finance Assistant- Payments.

Key Tasks
  • Manage the ‘Payment Request’ mail box.
  • Examine; verify all requests coming through for approval by relevant authourized company official.
  • Confirm that services / goods being paid for were actually received.
  • Verify and confirm that correct details of vendors / service providers / beneficiaries have been accurately captured.
  • Verify and confirm that adequate back-up documentation have been attached alongside requests.
  • Verify and confirm whether back-up documentations are authentic and processed as per OAF Finance requirements.
  • To query where necessary and follow through on queries via adequate written communication.
  • Undertake scanning and filing (digital) from time to time.
  • To deliver approved payment requests to ‘Payment Approvals’ mail as per the timelines laid down by Finance Department.
  • To assist the Treasurer /Assistant Treasurer in any way needed in regards to processing of Payment Requests and on queries raised by the Treasury section.
  • Assist in maintaining statistics regarding payment requests.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the Finance Manager.

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Accounting with CPA1 professional qualification. A degree will be added advantage.
  • At least one year of experience in a busy Accounting or Auditing department.
  • Proven organizational, analytical, negotiating, and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Self-driven with ability to work with minimum supervision under pressure meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be computer proficient.
  • High level of integrity – able to ‘contain’ sensitive Financial information and handle Financial documents appropriately.
  • Should have an eye for detail.
  • A team player, able to work long and at times odd hours.
The candidate must be willing to reside in the western region of Kenya- specifically Bungoma.
