Assistant Matron

Ref: HRD/AM/08/13

Reporting to the Matron/Director Nursing Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Participating in the development, review and implementation of nursing practice policies, procedures, guidelines and activities.
  • Providing effective leadership to the assigned Charge Nurses and their wards.
  • Implementing continuous improvement of nursing practice and service delivery.
  • Participating in the development of protocols of care and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Ensuring that infection control procedures and standards are implemented and maintained at all times.
  • Assisting with the investigations of patients’ complaints and effect changes where applicable to ensure compliance to standards.
  • Undertaking ward rounds on a regular basis to keep in touch with patients and ward staff so as to facilitate decision making and strengthen patient care.
  • Ensuring in-depth induction and orientation programmes for all nurses.
  • Enhancing collaboration between all functions involved in patient management.
  • Promoting nursing research and implementation of findings to improve evidence based care.
  • Participating in ward based execution of nursing education programs.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • Over 7 years progressive work experience, 4 of which must be at a senior level
  • Experience in Hospital administration and nursing policy making.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, problem solving and influencing skills.
Radiologist
Ref: HRD/RAD/08/13
Reporting to the Chief Radiologist, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following among others:
  • Evaluating diagnostic images to ensure they are of diagnostic value.
  • Providing reports for diagnostic images.
  • Routine and Doppler ultrasound imaging.
  • CT imaging and interpretation.
  • Intravenous administration of contrast material.
  • Fluoroscopic screening for special procedures.
  • Providing guidance to Radiographers and Ultrasonographers.
  • Facilitating in Hospital and Departmental CMEs.
  • Contributing to medical imaging research.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Masters of Medicine in Radiology.
  • At least three (3) years experience in a busy Radiology Department.
  • Proven skills in emergency radiology.
  • Good analytical, communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Valid registration and annual practice licences.
  • Exposure to computer aided reporting will be an added advantage
Radiophysicist
Ref: HRD/RPT/08/13
Reporting to the Lead Radiotherapist In-Charge, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following among others:
  • Computerized treatment planning and dose calculations.
  • Treatment delivery.
  • Preparing appropriate moulds for patient therapy.
  • Implementing and managing dosimetric and beam delivery aspects.
  • Brachytherapy planning.
  • Provide assurance of accurate delivery of prescribed radiation doses and associated risks.
  • Patient education and counseling.
  • Ensure safety & radiation protection of patient and other staff members within the department.
  • Developing and implementing protocols of care.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • BSc. Medical Physics.
  • Good analytical, communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Computer literate.
Plant Technician
Ref: HRD/PT/08/13
Reporting to the Assistant Engineer (Plant), the successful candidate will be responsible for the following among others:
  • Performing preventative maintenance and ensuring safety of all mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining of Hospital mechanical systems.
  • Maintaining and repairing plumbing, gas and drainage installations.
  • Maintaining and repairing kitchen and laundry equipment, pumps, compressed air systems, pool equipment, oil fired boilers, steam distribution and recovery systems.
  • Maintaining up to date job cards for each job assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant option) from a recognized institution.
  • 2 years experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical repairs.
  • Good organisational, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate.
