Job Title: Financial / Market Analyst

Location: Nairobi

Position Reporting to: Chief Product Officer

Job Purpose / Summary:

The Financial/Market Analyst is responsible for detailed financial analysis of the products, services (costs and margins), campaigns, promotions and customer offers to facilitate informed decisions and budget compliance
 

This will also involve analysing the market in terms of the markets/regions we operate in and the competitive offerings, campaigns and competitor activities. 

Key Roles:
  • Detailed interpretation and presentation of costs and margins for existing services to ensure budget compliance and cost control, to include:
  • Content costs/margins, by channel, by pack, by bundle etc.
  • Financial support and analysis for content negotiations
  • Telephony usage /Tariff analysis for new service offers
  • Sales offers / upsell campaign analysis i.e. margin impact of free installs, free subscriptions etc. and relative success of varying campaigns versus each other and budgets
  • Analysis of above and below the line campaigns/activities
  • Departmental Budget preparations and adherence
  • Contribute to Customer projections/ sales and upsell forecasts for budget preparations
  • Competitive data analysis alongside Marketing and Programming
  • Maintenance of regular reports and performance and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications:
  • Degree educated
  • Professional accountancy qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or similar financial experience

Experience:
  • 1-2 years in Telecoms/media industry preferably
  • Development of successful new business plans, strategic planning and financial planning
  • Technophile approach to new technological paradigms
  • Financial Competence
  • Ability to build, evaluate and interpret complex financial models
  • Understanding of budgeting and accounting principles

Strategic analytics
  • Competence at using a range of strategic frameworks including market sizing, value chain analysis, hypothesis driven analytics, and customer segmentation.

  • Ability to interpret consumer trends and understand implications for platforms and services
