Management Accountant and Sales Manager at Oxford University Press (OUP)

OUPEA is seeking to recruit a high calibre, results-oriented, experienced and highly skilled professional for the position of Management Accountant.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Management Accounts with variance analysis and commentaries.
  • Produce the budget and quarterly forecasts for approval by Senior Management through the Finance & Operations Director
  • Monitoring budget and ensure that expenditure is within budget and report on variance
  • Monitor and evaluate financial information systems and propose improvements where needed
  • Implement compliance related procedures, risk management and internal controls
  • Assist with audit preparation work to allow for timely completion of the annual financial statements and corporation tax returns.
  • Provide support to the Compliance Officer on all compliance related project plan activities: 
  • Maintain records and tracking progress as directed
  • Support the business on project work as required

Academic Qualifications
  • Fully qualified Accountant – CMA, or CPA, or ACCA or similar qualification
  • Bachelor degree: Bcom, Bsc or similar academic qualification from recognized university
  • At least three years’ experience financial transactions processing in SAP
  • Experience in managing own time and ability to juggle priorities

Summary of the Position

This is a senior position responsible for development and execution of sales strategies to grow sales of all product lines and market share. The Sales Manager will provide leadership to a team of highly skilled Educational Business Advisors in growing the company business and increase consumer awareness of OUP products while ensuring excellent brand image.

Key Responsibilities
The Sales Manager will provide leadership in developing the overall sales strategy and maximize sales of OUPEA’s high quality educational teaching and learning materials to appropriate markets.
While leading the team is sales planning and execution, the Sales Manager will monitor market trends and steer activities to expand adoptions of front list and backlist titles; and maintain existing adoptions in schools.
The Sales Manager will build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector and customers; providing innovative solutions to acquire profitable business relationships and maximize OUPEA market share.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The position requires an appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing or Education with ten (10) or more years in sales management and a proven track record of consistent high performance. 
In addition, the individual must demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of the dynamics of the educational market and system in East Africa.
The appropriate candidate will demonstrate knowledge, skill and experience in sales team management, marketing theory, market research, relationship-building, educational publishing industry, education and teaching, budget monitoring and control, project planning and management.
