Microfinance Interns, Credit Officers, Branch Managers, Investment Officer at Speed Capital

Speed capital is currently seeking to recruit high calibre people to join a committed team which is executing an ambitious expansion programme. The following positions are available:

BRANCH MANAGERS (3 positions)

Duties & Responsibilities:

1)Responsible for the overall performance and activities of the branch and participates in making decisions.

2)Ensure effective control environment with focus on compliance of Prudential and other regulatory instructions with no procedural slippages

3)Making sure targets are met, coaching and developing staff, keeping the office to a high standard of discipline and integrity and dealing with customer complaints

4)Review and analyze performance information and reports, which are then given and shared with loan officers

5)Spearhead Promotion of speed capital products and services in the branch

6)Monitoring of disbursed loans – Delinquency management

7)Assuring long term relationship through high client satisfaction, reaching a high ration of revolving clients – Customer care

8)Maintaining quality portfolio in the branch by ensuring recruitment of viable Entrepreneurs.

9)Carrying out proper vetting and assessment of loans application for credit committee approvals.

10)Identify loans for recovery and coordinate recovery efforts within the branch

11)Initiate and maintain good relationship between speed capital and local stakeholders including provincial administration, church etc

12)Performing other duties as may be deemed necessary by the management.

Desired qualifications and experience 

• Degree holder in relevant field

• At least two years of experience in a managerial post in a micro finance institution or bank

• Diploma holders with at least 3 years’ experience in a managerial post in a microfinance institution will be considered


CREDIT OFFICER (6 positions)

A fast growing micro-lender requires the services of an experienced Credit officer. Operating in the informal sector, we aim to uplift the socio-economic status and earning potential of our customers by offering them high quality, affordable and diversified financial services. In order to afford our members maximum efficiency, we would like to hire an experienced Credit Officer who is adaptable, self driven individual, ready for challenge, with highly developed skills in delivering cutting edge and swift Credit solutions that would have a profound positive effect in Loan portfolio. The Credit Officer will report to Management on matters pertaining to Credit Management. 

Key roles include:

  1. Client outreach and recruitment
  2. Participate in the formulation and implementation of the lending policies and  procedures; 
  3. Coordinate all activities in relation to lending; 
  4. Process, appraise and recommend loan applications; 
  5. Offer financial advisory services to clients; 
  6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the loan portfolio; 
  7. Take necessary action to recover loans; 
  8. Review of the loans products to ensure their relevance in a dynamic financial environment; 
  9. Handle loan enquiries; and 
  10. Perform any other duties incidental to the functions of the credit department as approved by the Management
  11. Develop new products intended for new markets

Desired qualifications and experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in business/Finance/Accounting 

• Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in credit management at supervisory or 

management level in microfinance

• Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, negotiation skills and a 

good team player. 

• Able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines with minimum supervision. 



 Duties & Responsibilities

1)Client outreach and recruitment

2)Business appraisal, disbursement and processing of loans

3)Recruiting clients and maintain a relationship with each client with frequent visits

4)Collection of repayment through the approved loan repayment method & procedures

5)Delinquent loan management & loan recovery.

6)Management of quality customer services and relations.

7)Marketing of products & recruit potential borrowers within the communities where we work

8)Compile documentation for loan processing and approval at the branch office

9)Ensure monthly, quarterly and yearly targets are achieved as projected.

10)Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

 Desired qualifications and experience 

• Graduates or diploma holder in relevant fields



Duties & Responsibilities

1)Track all contacts with the company’s current and prospective investors  Create briefing memos and investors presentations for management in preparation for investor meetings

2)Develop outstanding written promotional materials materials as well as draft correspondence (initial contact letters, company profile, follow up notes, etc.) for investors. 

3)Coordinate regular small events to cultivate prospective donors, handling all logistics and tasks associated with the event as necessary

4)Conduct prospect research and identification

5)Assist in scheduling and coordination of meetings

6)Ensure achievement of investment mobilization targets

Desired qualifications and experience 

• Graduate in commerce or finance field

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent report writing skills

• 2 years’ experience in investment mobilization work in the private sector preferably banking, insurance, stock broking or investment banking.

• CPA will be an added advantage
