Internal Audit Manager at British American Tobacco (BAT)

Reporting to: Area Head of Audit, East & Central Africa Area 
Key Deliverables:
1. To perform independent audits within the Area concentrating on the high-risk areas of BAT operations. The objective is to support management by assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of control procedures in place to mitigate the business risks and where necessary, identify potential improvements and agree appropriate action plans with managers in charge of the processes.

2. To promote awareness of control & risk and the benefits of a strong control environment in optimizing business performance and safeguarding asset throughout East & Central Africa Area and other BAT operating companies.

3. To support Management by performing adhoc assignments on the request of Functional Heads and issuing reports on findings which highlight issues, potential impact on the business and suggest pragmatic recommendations to address the issues. 
Essential requirements
1. Sound Commercial Knowledge – A graduate who is a certified qualified accountant with at least 4 – 6 years’ experience in a professional services firm or with equivalent experience in the internal audit department of an FMCG.
2. Technical skills – Good understanding of IFRS and superior analytical skills are required for the job to ensure effective reviews and delivery of audit work.
3. Experience in preparing audit reports addressed to senior management 
Desirable requirements
1. Sound cross functional knowledge is required in order to ensure that advice given has taken into account the business context of the matter.
2. Strong creative, communication and interpersonal skills as the job is highly interactive with senior management and requires the person to make decisions unsupervised for most of the time and challenge senior management on the findings of audit work.
