Senior Engineer -Transmission Configuration & Support

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Regional Network Operations Department within the Technology Division.
In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Reporting to the Senior Manager: Configuration & Support – the holder of the position will handle the following roles;
- Troubleshooting and Resolution of faults & failures in the access transmission network;
- Providing technical assistance to field engineers in fault resolution process;
- Providing long term transmission system configuration and support;
- Providing second line to transmission system faults escalated from first line maintenance;
- Follow up with the vendors of the transmission equipment for resolution of escalated faults;
- Perform transmission upgrades and major network configuration changes;
- Develop tools for automation and speed up the support processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 2nd line support for faults and failures and ensure fault resolution within SLAs;
Follow up with equipment vendors to ensure resolution of faults and failures within SLA;
Perform transmission systems upgrades and service provisioning to support network KPIs;
Ensuring all newly integrated equipment follow & adhere to the laid down acceptance criteria;
Analyze network KPIs, logs and warnings and initiate corrective measures to resolve complaints and faults.
Role Requirements
Maintain high transmission systems and service availability to support customer services;
Ensure high quality transmission systems to support customer services and better user experience;
Follow up with equipment vendors to ensure resolution of faults and failures within SLA;
Perform transmission systems upgrades and service provisioning to support network KPIs;
Ensuring all newly integrated equipment follow & adhere to the laid down acceptance criteria;
Analyze network KPIs, logs and warnings and initiate corrective measures to resolve complaints and faults.
Role Requirements
- University degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering;
- 3 years working experience in Telecommunications with at least 2 years of experience with a busy mobile Operator;
- Good working practical knowledge & understanding of transmission systems (TDM, Hybrid & IP);
- Good working knowledge of UNIX, Linux, Windows, Oracle and database systems;
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;
- Analytical & problem solving skills necessary when handling faults;
- Must be able to work without supervision & meet tight deadlines/schedules;
- Presentation skills required occasionally when initiating the use of new procedures & long-term Network fault solutions;
- Proactive & self-motivated;
- Good public relations, communication & interpersonal skills when coordinating with contractor /other departments & suppliers.
