CARE is an International NGO working in Somalia. 
CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance. 

CARE is looking for suitable candidate to fill the position of Logistic and Procurement Assistant based in Garowe, Puntland for Support Program.

Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the Logistics and Procurement officer to provide Procurement/logistical support to CARE Garowe office and all its field operations and sub offices while linking with our Nairobi operations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
I. Procurement and Inventory
a. Assist procurement and Logistics officer receiving requests from different sections and prepare purchase plans with a view of ensuring cost effectiveness, timely procurement and quality of goods and present Logistic and Procurement Officer.
b. Ensure procurement procedures are carried out in line with Care international policy and the Minimum Standards. Ensure donor procurement policies, guidelines and specific requirements are strictly met.
II. Transportation & Freight
a. Arrange for transportation of goods and equipments between offices or to field sites and ensure that the goods are securely packaged and loaded to prevent damage during transportation.
b. Compile accurate documentation relating to the movement of items between locations, whether as a transfer or for distribution.
III. Assets Management/Warehouse Management
a. Maintain/Assist the Logistics and Procurement Officer to maintain the Assets and Equipment Register for the field office. Coordinate with staff and the Logistics Officer to ensure that all the changes to the assets & equipments locations, conditions are reflected timely and correctly.
b. If responsible for assets, ensure that the assets that are issued to staff are authorised, recorded and necessary paper work exists in assets file, as per Care international policies.
c. Ensure/assist the Logistics Officer to ensure that all assets are properly maintained and looked after. Any misuse and abuse is reported up the chain.
 
Required Qualifications and Experiences
  • Degree/Diploma in business administration/Logistics or supply chain management
  • Minimum 2 years proven work experience procurement and logistics management within a busy working environment such as financial institutes or INGOs
  • Good English language command.
  • Good computer and writing skills.
  • Supportive personnel management style.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to work as part of a professional team
  • Ability to work under high pressure to meet tight deadlines.
