Targeting  3 sub-sectors; namely Dairy, Maize and Horticulture,  TECHNOSERVE is implementing the Mobile Training Unit (MTU) Program in Nandi, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia and Uasin-Gishu Counties, that seeks to promote agricultural extension and technology adoption using among other tools an audio/visual enhanced ‘farmer mobile classroom’. 

The MTU program is looking for two young men and/or women to participate in internship program for an initial period of 6 months.

1. Audio and Video Equipment Technician
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Business Advisor the ideal person should have an ear and an eye for determining sound and visual quality; and be familiar with the many components that make up audio and video systems with complex wiring and cabling.
The position’s primary responsibility involve setting up and installing audio/visual equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for training events and functions, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences.
  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality, test and resolve equipment issues and mix sound inputs and feeds
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to designated layout and diagnose and correct system problems.
  • Compress and digitize audio and video data and ensure the safe storage and integrity of data.
  • Make announcements over public address system, instruct and calm crowds during trainings,
  • Improvise commentary on items of interest, such as background and history of events or past records of participants.
  • Notify supervisors when major equipment repairs are needed.
Qualifications
Training in broadcast technology or electronics, broadcasting, journalism, communications from a technical school or college coupled with work experience obtained at the college studio or via internships.
 
Key Skills
  • Ability to ad lib, knowledge of current events or music, appealing voice with good diction and solid writing skills
  • Ability to understand manuals and technical diagrams
  • Able to innovatively turn ideas into outlines, storyboards, and images.
  • Mastery of public spoken communication in English, Kiswahili and local language/s in North Rift
2. M&E Intern
Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of a business advisor, the intern will 
  • Provide support to the team in consolidating, sorting and filling -including data entry- on specified clients and MTU project indicators and milestones that will inform the monitoring and evaluation process.
  • Organize all information that is received and ensure that it is properly stored and accurate.
  • Carry out a comparison of data recorded with all the source documents, detecting errors that could have arisen and verifying the recorded information.
  • Enter data from related documents into the appropriate database system for the indicator monitoring and assist with any other processing tasks as advised by management.
Education Qualifications
  • Minimum qualification- Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or business-related studies.
Key Skills and Competencies
The intern shall have knowledge of record management procedures, program activities processes and guidelines; in addition to;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with fluency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and software.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and thorough with follow-up.
  • Highly self-directed and self-motivated; able to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to follow directions and able to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Remuneration
These internships are paid positions, in line with TechnoServe’s scales and policy.
