Export Processing Zones Authority is a State Corporation established through an Act of Parliament Cap 517 of the laws of Kenya to oversee all aspects of development of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Kenya. 
The economic objectives of the EPZ program include employment creation, export diversification / expansion, investment attraction, technology transfer and backward linkages between the EPZs and domestic suppliers.

The Authority has the following vacant positions:-
Sewerage Maintenance Technicians

2 Positions
Job Ref: EPZA/SMT/18/11/2013
 
The incumbents shall report to the Water and Sewerage Manager for the following;
  • Maintaining sewerage infrastructure;
  • Ensuring timely connection of new customers;
  • Monitoring, evaluating, monitoring and reporting of treatment and disposal of waste;
  • Record keeping of all users and ensuring that they remit payment;
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting of discharge of waste into the sewerage system
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the functioning of sewerage treatment ponds;
  • Periodically picking samples for analysis and reporting on the results
  • Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have KSCE D- and above
  • Possession of a certificate in water engineering or equivalent will be an added advantage
  • At least two years’ experience in relevant field will be an added advantage
  • Must have proficiency in computer packages
  • Possession of motorcycle driving license will be an added advantage
  • Must have client orientation and customer care skills
  • Must have a high degree of integrity and dependability
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet strict deadlines
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
Water Meter Readers

5 Positions
Job Ref: EPZA/MR/17/2013

The incumbents shall report to the Water and Sewerage Manager for the following;
  • Timely reading of all meters from respective zones in line with the billing cycle;
  • Ensuring proper bills are generated and delivered to the customers
  • Reporting any cases of illegal water connections
  • Compiling data on consumption on a regular basis;
  • Compiling the lists of all stuck water meters from their respective zones;
  • Ensuring that all water consumers have their water accounts written at their respective premises;
  • Inspecting water meters and meter connections ( to check any signs of leaks and meter tampering);
  • Reporting malfunctioning of water meters and formally requesting for their replacement or repair.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have KCSE Grade D- and above
  • Possession of a certificate in water meter reading, water engineering or equivalent will be an added advantage
  • Must have at least two years’ experience in relevant field
  • Must have client orientation and customer care skills
  • Must have a high degree of integrity and dependability
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet strict deadlines
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possession of motor cycle rider’s license will be an added advantage
Compliance and Enforcement Technician

The incumbents shall report to the Water and Sewerage Manager for the following;
  • Carrying out regular surveillance of the water infrastructure
  • Disconnecting/Reconnecting of all clients’ accounts based on the approved list by the Manager, Water & Sewerage;
  • Reporting illegal connections;
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on disconnections and reconnections;
  • Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements

Property Officer

1 Position

Job Ref: EPZA/PO/15/11/2013
Reporting to the General Manager – Utilities & Technical Services, the incumbent shall be responsible for;
  • Advising the Authority on efficient use of its land and real estate assets;
  • Advising on property availability and applicable rates;
  • Liaising with Ministry of Lands and related offices to ensure ownership documents are up to date;
  • Processing land documents and ensuring payment of statutory dues;
  • Representing the Authority on land and property issues;
  • Negotiating service contracts to ensure efficiency at reasonable cost;
  • Optimizing property returns by ensuring timely invoicing and recovery of income;
  • Following up on rent payment by tenants;
  • Reconciling tenants accounts to ensure good and accurate records are kept;
  • Preparing periodic rent reports;
  • Undertaking routine inspection for the outsourced services;
  • Preparing and submitting timely and accurate reports on the outsourced services;
  • Ensuring prompt payment of land rent and rates;
  • Coordinating sub-contracted services such as office cleaning and security, and
  • Any other lawful duty as may be assigned form time to time.
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics, Land Economics or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Must have at least three years’ experience in a comparable position
  • Must have a high degree of integrity and dependability
  • Must have certified computer literacy
  • Must have excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills

Executive Secretary

1 Position
Job Ref: EPZA/ES/14/11/2013
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent shall be responsible for;
  • Providing leadership in the effective administration of the executive office.
  • Maintaining calendar appointments for the CEO, ensuring the CEO is apprised of all appointments and changes as well as matters requiring immediate attention
  • Screening complaints and inquiries from employees, public officials, the press and the general public as addressed to the CEO
  • Processing records, requisitioning office supplies , and performing other administrative support procedures for effective office management
  • Opening and screening mail and answering routine mail independently
  • Maintaining executive records and ensuring that the contents are properly marked and accessible for immediate use
  • Coordinating all travel arrangements for the CEO and Board Members
  • Ensuring that office imprest is accurately and timely accounted for.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient booking of appointments for CEO
  • Managing visitors at the executive reception.
  • Any other lawful duties that may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business field from an accredited university
  • Possession of certified professional qualifications in Secretarial Duties or Office Administration from accredited institutions
  • Three years’ experience in a comparable position
  • A high degree of integrity and dependability
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have excellent interpersonal relations, team building and communication skills
Industrial Relations Executive

1 Position

Job Ref: EPZA/IRE/13/11/2013
Reporting to the GM, Operations & Investor Support the incumbent shall be responsible for;
  • Advising new and existing investors in the EPZs on labor Laws, industrial relations and good labor practices;
  • Monitoring working conditions in the EPZs and submit periodic compliance reports;
  • Liaising with Labor Officers, Trade Union Officials, employers and other relevant players in industrial relations to solve disputes;
  • Engaging all parties in industrial relations to proactively minimize emerging disputes;
  • Monitoring and assessing skill transfer processes at individual enterprises;
  • Providing information to investors on available training opportunities;
  • Coordinating HIV and AIDS programs within the EPZ enterprises;
  • Addressing other investor needs and concerns as they may arise;
  • Performing any other lawful duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a degree from an accredited University, in Humanities, Business management, Economics, Law, or Social Science field;
  • Must have a post- graduate qualification in Industrial Relations or Human Resource Management;
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial relations or related field;
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Labor Laws and industrial relation machinery in Kenya;
  • Must have business counseling and customer care skills;
  • Must be conversant with Government economic recovery programs;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Water & Sewerage Manager 

1 Position

Job Ref: EPZA/WSM/12/11/2013
Reporting to the General Manager – Utilities & Technical Services, the incumbent shall be responsible for overseeing provision of water and sewerage including;-
  • Managing the Authority’s water supply as a sustainable and cost- effective resource;
  • Formulating, interpreting and implementing water and sewerage policies, procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Planning, scheduling and sourcing the production, treatment and distribution of water;
  • Ensuring development and conservation of water resources;
  • Designing and constructing water and sewerage infrastructure;
  • Ensuring prompt connection of water and sewerage services to new customers;
  • Overseeing treatment and disposal of sewage;
  • Overseeing maintenance of the water and sewerage infrastructure;
  • Ensuring prompt payment for water and sewerage services;
  • Overseeing customers education on various water conservation strategies;
  • Any other lawful duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in business field, water, civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university;
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration will be an added advantage
  • Must have served in a comparable position for at least three (3) years;
  • Must have wide experience in the water sector;
  • Must have demonstrable outstanding leadership capability;
  • Must have high degree of integrity and dependability;
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Regional Manager

Two (2) Positions

Job Ref: EPZA/RM/11/11/2013
Reporting to the General Manager, Operations and Investor Support, the incumbents shall be responsible for;
  • Overseeing investor support services within a zone or region including;
  • Implementing investor support strategies, incubation programs and monitor compliance of EPZ projects in the region of responsibility;
  • Coordinating investor operations in the zone/region;
  • Developing and overseeing operations of incubator projects within the zone/region;
  • Overseeing registration and licensing of investors in the region of responsibility;
  • Providing investor care/support services within the zone/region;
  • Liaising with the Head Office on issues of investor support;
  • Ensuring compliance of investors within a zone/region with set guidelines;
  • Facilitating linkages of EPZs with the rest of the economy within the respective region;
  • Addressing expansion needs of EPZ Enterprises in the respective region of responsibility;
  • Compiling statistics on the performance of EPZs in the region of responsibility;
  • Identifying and advising management on any emerging issues affecting EPZ operations in the respective region of responsibility;
  • Any other lawful duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field, economics, agri-business, finance or equivalent from an accredited university;
  • Master’s degree in a business field will be an added advantage;
  • three years’ experience in similar or related field;
  • Certified proficiency in computer applications
  • Experience in investor facilitation or Government service and regulation;
  • Must have a high degree of integrity and dependability;
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
