Finance and Administration Manager at Center for Education and Development (CED)

CED seeks to recruit a qualified Finance and Administration Manager to be part of its core team.

Location: 50% Nairobi, Kenya and 50% Mogadishu, Somalia

Closing date: January 25, 2014

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position will be accounting/financial management, logistics and office administration of the CED offices in Nairobi and Mogadishu under the technical supervision of the Program Coordinator. The Finance and Administration Manager shall be responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial management, accountability requirements and human resources management of the offices in Mogadishu and Nairobi as well as the field offices in other regions. This position must assure the contractual integrity of all agreements entered into by the office, managing the procurement process and looking out for the interests of the organization. The Manager will provide technical assistance to staff in implementing and complying with financial and administrative procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and serve as the financial liaison to donors and other implementing partners and implementing units.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5 years of relevant work experience preferably with NGOs.
  • Proven financial analysis and forecasting ability
  • Proven experience in training and capacity building in the area of finance and administration.
  • Production and interpretation of management accounts
  • Proven ability to provide support, guidance and training to financial and non-financial managers and colleagues.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Experience of working in a cross-cultural environment and very insecure environment
  • Ability to work to deadlines with good prioritization and time management skills.
  • Experience in financial management of donor-funded programs
  • Experience with computerized accounting and strong organizational and leader Excellent skills in MS office and common accounting softwares
  • Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or recognized professional degree, such as CPA or ACCA
  • Previous work experience in Somalia

Contract period:

one year, with possibility of renewal
