Role Purpose: 

The Head of Logistics is responsible for maximizing the efficiency of the supply chain to achieve the highest level of customer service at optimal operating cost. The role offers support to all sales and operations functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1.1 Supply Chain Strategy

• Formulating the company’s supply chain strategy.

• Reviewing the logistics strategy and lead process, selecting and adopting appropriate tools that guarantee improved performance.

• Spearheading strategic relationships with suppliers and partners in clearing and forwarding and Distribution.

• Strategising logistics flow optimisation and warehousing

• Effectively co-operating with the commercial, supply chain and regional procurement teams to ensure that value added activities are achieved. 

1.2 Logistics

• Reviewing and improving the supply chain planning process.

• Managing outsourced logistics.

• Ensuring that the technical and commercial functions have adequate inventories at the correct specification, and at the agreed levels.

• Ensuring smooth process flows, at the lowest cost possible and after considering all the parameters.

• Managing warehousing, storage, shipping and trucking to achieve optimal efficiency in the receipt, storage, issue and dispatch of all stock items.

1.3 Budgeting

• Developing and maintaining the Logistics budget.

• Managing incentive schemes by timely reconciliation and cancellation of bonds.

1.4 People Development

• Ensuring that the Logistics team receives the motivation, training and development, coaching and guidance to enable them to keep abreast of latest developments and achieve their maximum contribution.

• Supporting the recruitment of Logistics staff and ensuring that they animate the Code of Conduct.

 

Academic/ Professional Qualifications Relevant Business Degree Professional Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management First class knowledge in logistics/supply chain management coupled with experience in FMCG/Telecoms sectors
