Looking for a graduate in political science, history, anthropology, geography or other social science to conduct research centered on a range of topics, such as:

• population structure and migration;
• unemployment;
• gender;
• crime;
• transport;
• social services;
• healthcare;
• education;
• the environment.
A variety of methods, such as interviews, questionnaires and focus groups, may be used to investigate the views of population samples on specific issues.

Typical work activities

• applying a variety of research techniques to gather relevant information, including document analysis, surveys, case studies and interviews (face-to-face, telephone and online);
• gather information; including conducting information and data retrieval searches using electronic databases;
• analyzing and evaluating research and interpreting data, making sure that key issues are identified;
• gathering information by directing or carrying out fieldwork;
• preparing results;
• presenting and disseminating results in writing;
• offering research-based briefings and advice, which may involve writing action plans;
Results may be used to shape policy or to examine the effectiveness of existing policy.

Duration of project: 6 months
