African Conservation Centre is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the development of Africa Conservation excellence with a focus on conservation of biodiversity eco-systems landscapes while ensuring sustainable benefits to local livelihoods of host communities.

We seek to recruit a dynamic and innovative professional to fill this position

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the accountant shall be responsible for executing systems, procedures and controls of the accounting function covering the accounting policies, procedures and control, manner of record maintenance and reporting requirements.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the production of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual management accounts
  • Consolidate and share financial reports and audited annual financial statements
  • Prepare financial reports e.g. monthly, Quarterly, midyear and annual reports.
  • Review/Perform monthly bank reconciliations and manage ACC bank accounts.
  • Evaluate receipts and expenditure forms, LPO for the purpose of ensuring compliance to policies
  • Preparation of audit files, maintenance of audit trail and provide information to financial auditors
  • Supervise the work of accounts assistant(s)/officers
  • Data entry, coding and posting of data in payment vouchers to the accounting system to update the general ledger.
  • Oversee Creditors/suppliers payment and preparation of a creditors report by update of the system & provision of a manual project allocation to reconcile the two.
  • Ensure preparation of a schedule of debtors and generation of an outstanding imprest debtors report.
  • Reconciliation of  book balances with accounts and system cashbooks with actual bank balances, debtors and imprest outstanding, individual imprest debtors accounts with personal statements to determine outstanding balances, creditors schedule with suppliers’ statements, determination of outstanding balances
  • Reviewing of all imprest surrender documents provided by staff from the field and assessing, testing and judging the allowability, allocability and reasonability of different expenses incurred so as to ensure they concur with the donors financing agreement.
  • Ensuring that all support documents and back up evidence provided by staff are bonafide and adequate as per the donors financing agreement.
Required Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting
  • Must have a CPA (II) Sec 4.
  • Proficiency accounting software.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a busy audit firm
  • Good Interpersonal skills i.e. influencing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Problem solving and Analytical skills
