Senior Software Developers at Kimetrica
Background: Kimetrica is the leader in developing innovative software applications for humanitarian and development organizations working in some of the world’s most vulnerable locations.
We are in the midst of an exciting time due to our rapid growth. We are looking for Senior Software Developers who has Python/Django experience.
We are looking for a problem solver with a strong software engineering background, and the ability to learn things quickly. Our teams work virtually and physically in the same location; however, we do not make location a constraint to employment.
At least one position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya or in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia but the other positions can be in any time zone.
Position Details: As a member of a team, you will manage large and complex software projects mainly in dot.net but progressively transitioning to Django/Python with substantial redesign and adoption of open source components.
The selected candidate will provide a substantial input in the re-design of the core software projects and ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with agile software development processes.
Your work will include managing client relations, sprint planning, preparation of briefs, budgets and project proposals for customizations. In addition you will coach and build staff skills and learning, particularly in Python.
You will report to the Chief Information Officer
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated agile software development project management
- Experience with Redmine and GitLab or similar tools
- Excellent communications skills in English, including an ability to negotiate at high level with clients
- Extensive experience with .Net development and C# and/or Django/Python
- Excellent architectural and database design skills
- Experience of high-end data analytics and business intelligence preferred
- Preferably strong knowledge and experience of database development with Postgresql
- Strong interest in new technologies and open source software
- Passion for innovation and Interest in application of technology to social problems
