Makueni County Public Service Board
Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service.

In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.
Six Positions
   
Duties and Responsibilities
The Interns will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer in the implementation of a donor funded project in the County and will be responsible for the following:
  • Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations
  • Treating sick animals
  • Advising on good veterinary practices
  • Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets,;
  • Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare
  • Undertaking post-mortem examination and other diagnostic tests, supporting veterinary paraprofessionals and in collaboration with the project coordinator and sub-county veterinary officers, develop and implement farmers support activities and dog vaccination programmes.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Requirements for appointment:
  • Possession of a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine acquired within the last one year. Graduates who have not received their certificates are eligible since this is an internship project.
  • They must have taken the VERY (Veterinary Emergency Response unit) and LEGS (Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards) courses during their studies
  • Must be computer literate and able to use the Word and Excel programmes
  • Member of the Kenya Veterinary Association or any other Membership association for Veterinarians.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and/ or rural participatory assessments would be an added advantage.
The interns will be paid a stipend of KShs. 20,000/= per month.

Note:
(i) All applicants are required to obtain clearance from the following Institutions;
  • The Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
  • The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
  • The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC).
Copies of the above clearance certificates must be attached to the applications.

(ii)
The application should reach the Secretary, County Public Service Board, on or before 14th October, 2015.

(iii)
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

(iv) 
Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce their original
National Identity cards, Certificates and Testimonials at the interview.
