Program Operations Officer at Marie Stopes Kenya

Reporting to and working with the Program Operations Manager, the Program Operations Officer’s main role is to ensure operational efficiency of MSK program by assembling, installing, repairing, calibrating, inspecting and performing preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment as well as efficiency in operational functions across other channels. 
The officer should also respond to critical equipment repairs and address patient safety in a timely manner. 
All this should be geared towards promoting the clinics and improving the financial performance.

The Operations Officer reports directly to the Program Operations Manager and will involve a lot of field travel.

Probationary Period: Three (3) months

Salary: KShs. 65,000 – 70,000/-

Contract type: Fixed Term – 2 years Renewable

Key Responsibilities   
Proper functioning of ALL medical and non-medical equipment within Marie Stopes Kenya programs.
Measure: Functional equipment and existence of a working preventive maintenance schedule.

Ensure adequate provision of medical equipment in ALL MSK centres
Measure: Adequate and available medical equipment.

Proper calibration, assembly, installation and training on use of new and existing medical and non-medical equipment.
Measure: Properly installed and working equipment.
 

Continuous education and training of MSK staff on use various medical equipment.  
Measure: Trained and informed staff and record of trainings done.

Ensure organizational health and safety training is conducted for ALL staff and that the MSK work environment if safe for all employees.  
Measure: Trained staff on organizational health and safety.

Identify and train fire Marshalls across MSK Network  

Measure: Trained fire marshals in all MSK operational areas.
 
Advices the procurement department will maters regarding purchase of medical equipment. 
Measure: Quality medical equipment procured.

Ensure that all generators in the MSK network are set up and functioning.

Measure: Un-interrupted power supply within MSK operations.
 
Maintain and equipment inventory for ALL MSK equipment as well as a comprehensive log of equipment maintenance and repairs  
Measure: Accurate Equipment inventory list and maintenance log book.
 
Participate in incident investigations involving medical equipment that affects staff and clients    Measure: Accurate incident investigation reports.
 
Perform quarterly stock take and reconciliation of  equipment in the MSK channels
Measure: Reconciled quarterly stocktake report.
 
Other Duties   
  • Additional duties as necessary and directed by the Program Operations Manager   
Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Valid driving license is an added advantage
Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a busy hospital setup.
Skills:
  • Superior proficiency working with computers and ability to use Microsoft office.  
  • Ability to multi-task and able to work well under pressure.
  • Good record-keeping skills with the ability to track and follow up on various requests
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and ability to follow through tasks to completion
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work self-directed and use initiative
