Company: Sanergy is a social venture that is building a sustainable sanitation network throughout Nairobi’s informal settlements, by creating a network of local entrepreneurs who run small-scale sanitation centers. 

It is our goal to provide affordable, accessible and hygienic sanitation services to individuals, thereby making a valuable contribution to their communities. 

We have launched over 250 Fresh Life Toilets in Nairobi and plan to expand rapidly in the upcoming period.

Role: The Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will be responsible for generating and  sustaining high consumer usage of Fresh Life toilets while supporting the sales team to increase franchise uptake for the Fresh Life toilets. 

To accomplish these goals, the Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will work with the Marketing & Branding manager and a team of  marketing staff to implement community-wide branding and sanitation awareness campaigns; strategize and execute marketing initiatives to support Fresh Life franchisees in attracting users; and measure effectiveness of all branding and marketing activities.

The Assistant Marketing & Branding Manager will also work closely with the sales and operations team to identify and implement viable marketing and branding initiatives.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with Sales & Operations team  to help increase customer (franchisee) sales through strategic branding and development of promotional materials
  • Work with branding assistant to identify and implement branding events to increase brand awareness in the community
  • Research on most effective and cost efficient media and other branding channels
  • Work with procurement to implement timely production of all marketing materials
  • Conduct Fresh Life brand assessment surveys in the community, develop and implement interventions to increase brand awareness.
Consumer Marketing
  • Plan and execute consumer marketing strategies aimed at increasing usage at all Fresh Life toilets
  • Work with the marketing team to execute community mobilization events including opening ceremonies, school training among others
  • Collaborate with franchise operators to monitor usage, identify user challenges and increase usage through targeted marketing initiatives and franchisee support
  • Work with the relevant project  teams to identify marketing challenges, conduct market research and implement & measure impact
  • Develop and monitor budgets for consumer marketing activities
  • Support day to day activities of the marketing team to ensure successful implementation of marketing activities
  • Bachelors degree  in marketing or  business related discipline
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing consumer marketing & branding activities
  • Ability to conduct consumer research especially in FMCG environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative working style with ability to lead and inspire teams including temporary field staff
  • Fluent in English and Swahili
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications including ability to analyze data, develop presentations and reports
  • Experience in working in urban informal settlements or other low income communities- preferred
  • Passion for creativity and innovation
