SUMMARY:

 

Job Objective:

  • The overall role of this position is to primarily contribute toward the organisational strategy formulation and to develop and facilitate the implementation of the human resources department’s strategy.
  • The position will be responsible for guiding, leading and implementing the development and maintenance of the organisation’s human resources processes, procedures and systems as well as driving organisational change initiatives within the organisaiton.
  • This role will ultimately directs staff in the areas of: organizational structure, employment, compensation, employee database maintenance, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, orientation/training/development, and policy/procedure development. The position also oversees development and monitoring of the human resources and administration department’s budget and provides management support to the union/or staff council.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE – Conduct, analyse, communicate and implement findings from periodic employee satisfaction surveys, to assess and improve organizational culture, vibrancy and morale.
  • ORGANISATION DEVELOPMENT & RESTRUCTURING – Review, conduct analysis of current structures, recommend integration and OD solutions, to revitalize and align organization and smoothen workflow.
  • ADMINISTRATION – Establish, monitor quality service standards, negotiate and approve service provider contracts, streamline administrative processes, for internal customer satisfaction.
  • BUSINESS PLANNING AND BUDGETING – Participate in the business planning process, review, recommend, obtain budgetary approval and implement for contributing to the robustness of business plans and activities.
  • STATUTORY COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING – Manage, modify, and report on all statutory obligations relating to employment, and superannuation schemes for compliance with legal requirements.
  • MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT – Collate the identification of training needs, organize and coordinate internal and external corporate training programs in accordance with the business and individual development needs.
  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS MANAGEMENT – Review, commission compensation studies, and develop compensation and benefits strategy, to ensure market competitiveness and employee retention.
  • RECRUITMENT & SELECTION – Establish manning norms, recruitment and induction standards, liaise with search firms, for recruiting quality personnel within the organization.
  • HR SYSTEMS DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT – Design and implement Human Resources systems, processes & procedures to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and employee friendliness.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of  seven (7) to ten (10 years) experience of which 4 (four)  should be in a management position in main stream HR;

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Degree in Human Resources from a recognized University, Masters degree will be an added advantage;
  • Professional qualification in human resources e.g. Higher National Diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience in working within an organization with a large workforce of 250 plus people
  • Proficiency in human resource management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills,
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Good computer skills, including e-mail, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of human resources management and industrial relations
  • Knowledge of employment laws
  • Knowledge of  HRD tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of and experience in the service industry and similar  and operating environment an added advantage
  • Long-term perspective and cultural sensitivity

  • In-depth knowledge of the cleaning industry practices an added advantage
