Effective with the release of this position announcement, Winrock International will be recruiting applicants for the position of Junior Accountant to support its project located in Kenya and throughout Eastern Africa.  

The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

General:

Currently, Winrock has over 150 projects underway in more than 65 countries around the world and the United States.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Review financial information submitted from field offices in the East Africa region checking for completeness, accuracy, and the sufficiency of supporting documentation.  
  • Follow-up with field offices for missing documentation, clarification of transactions, and any coding discrepancies. 
  • Provide back-up support in absence of senior accountant. 
  • Prepare monthly allocation of regional office expenses to individual projects. 
  • Ensure regional office bills are paid in a timely manner. 
Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Finance or Accounting option); 
  • CPA  Level two with a minimum of three years’ experience working with an INGO and good knowledge of financial reporting systems in donor funded work will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations preferred
Skills:

Proficient with spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software. 

The successful candidate must possess strong workflow management skills; flexibility; good interpersonal skills with ability to work cooperative, tactfully, and diplomatically with a culturally diverse group of people; ability to write clearly, accurately and concisely; attention to detail; team player. 
Limited travel outside of Kenya.

The annual salary range will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
