Health Rights Advocacy Forum (HERAF) is a non-governmental organization that brings together Health Professionals, NGOs, FBOs and PLWHA organizations to empower Kenyans to realize the right to health for all. It was established in 2006 and registered as a non-governmental organization in Kenya by the NGO coordination board in 2007.

HERAF is currently implementing interventions to provide knowledge and information on health as a fundamental human right; advocating for reforms in health and HIV&AIDS policies; rooting for sustainable health financing; carrying out budget tracking and analysis, promoting community participation in health sector management and governance and strengthening the institutional capacity of partners in various counties to implement HIV/AIDs related projects

Vacancy: Grants Management Officer

Applications are invited for the post of a Grants Management officer

Job Summary

Be responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and functioning of the grants management system. This shall include monitoring the grants management process from solicitation through close out and ensuring proper compliance with all donor regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

1) Carry-out post program assessments of both administrative and financial systems as appropriate

2) Undertake and/or conclude grant audits and financial reviews and give appropriate recommendations to grantees on areas that need improvement in their systems and procedures

4) Prepare grant documents (selection memos, negotiation memos, grant agreements, modification, closeouts and related correspondences)

5) Prepare grant modifications for cost/program changes where need be

6) Ensure the timely close-out of grants

7) Manage all the administrative and financial aspects of awards to grantees

8) Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant Donor rules and regulations

9) Ensure adherence of standard terms and conditions for grant and sub-grants award letters, agreements and contracts

10) Support the coordination, organization and facilitation (as necessary) of the grants management workshops for grantees/partners to provide guidance on good grants management

Level of Education and Experience

The job holder must possess:

1) A Bachelor’s Degree in commerce, accounting or related business field

2) At least CPA Section 3

3) Minimum of five (5) years’ experience

Other Competencies

4) Demonstrated working knowledge of regulations applicable to grants and contracts management and administration

5) Proven track record on raising money from foundation and other sources.

6) Good analytical skills to successfully perform quantitative analyses

7) Effective written and oral communications skills

8) Ability to independently prioritize and successfully perform assigned tasks

9) Familiarity with major donors’ grants requirements and demonstrated ability to exercise basic understanding of grants management

10) Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
