The National Council for Law Reporting is a state corporation established by the National Council for Law Reporting Act, 1994. 
 
The statutory mandate of the Council is to publish the official Kenya Law Reports which are compilations of the decisions of the superior courts of Kenya, and the revision and updating the Laws of Kenya. 
 
The Council is a leading publisher of public legal information.

The Council is looking for highly organized and self-motivated professionals to serve in the following positions:

Job Title: Receptionist (1 position)
Job Grade: KLR 9
Reporting to: Assistant HR and Admin Officer
Department: Human Resources and Administration
Basic Salary not including allowances: 26,323 (1,316) – 27,639 (1,382) –  29,021 (1,451) –  30,472(1,524) –  31,996 (1,599) –  33,595 (1,680) – 35,275p.m.

Key Tasks
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-

  • Answering the telephone / Making calls and taking messages;
  • Initiate telephone policies, procedures and processes in the Council in line with the overall Government Policy;
  • Dispatch of mail. This includes registering mail in the book and ensuring the driver makes deliveries. Preparing labels;
  • Screening of visitors;
  • TV Screen. Ensuring that relevant content is screened between 8.00am and 5.30pm;
  • Taking of minutes in meetings;
  • Making of travel arrangements and hotel bookings;
  • Checking of invoices before being handed to procurement and accounts;
  • Making orders for office supplies. This includes water for dispensers, supplies for the  coffee dispenser, tissue papers, water and any snacks for meetings;
  • Handling the First Aid box. This includes This includes water for dispensers, supplies for the  coffee dispenser, tissue papers, water and Juices for meetings;
  • Filing of documents;
  • Requesting for Taxi and accounting for journeys;
  • Overseeing office cleaning.; and
  • Any other duty that may be assigned.
Person Specifications

For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-

  • Have  Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Have Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Business Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Have attended a customer care course from a recognized institution;
  • Have attended and passed a Certificate Course for Government Telephone Supervisors is an added advantage;
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Have Certificate in computer applications; and
  • Be fluent in written and spoken Swahili and English.
