Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor

Reports to: Executive Housekeeper

Duty station: Chester House – Nairobi

Key task
Responsible for supervising housekeeping operations within Chester House Apartments to ensure that service standards are met and customers are satisfied.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement housekeeping performance standards and ensure compliance of such standards by the housekeeping team.
  • Implement standard operating procedures, review and initiate remedial action as required.
  • Prompt requisition of cleaning materials, agents and guest supplies while monitoring and controlling the usage.
  • Generate and file laundry summaries and housekeepers’ daily room report.
  • Report lost items to management and carry out first level of investigations.
  • Resolve customer complaints expeditiously.
  • Lead, motivate, develop and control staff
  • Deputize the Executive Housekeeper
  • Stay abreast of developments and trends in housekeeping and make recommendation for cost saving and service improvement initiatives
  • Report faults and/or repairs which require attention from Maintenance department and follow up to ensure appropriate timely repairs are undertaken
  • Continually assess the competence of the team and offer coaching, support and training as needed
Job specification of Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Diploma/Certificate in Housekeeping  from Kenya Utalii College or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in housekeeping
  • Work planning and organizational skills
  • Leadership/ managerial skills
  • Staff supervision and discipline skills
  • Safety and hygiene awareness
  • Customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
