HR & Public Health Interns, Clerk of Works, Project Officer, Program Manager at Sustainble Aid In Africa International

Sustainable Aid in Africa (SANA) International is a Non Governmental Organization based in Kisumu City that works in partnership with local communities, government, donor agencies and the private sector to increase access to safe water supply services and environmental sanitation solutions to the poor and disadvantaged people in Kenya. 

To support her ongoing expansion programmes in Lake Victoria and Rift Valley Regions of Kenya, SANA International is seeking highly motivated and result oriented applicants to fill the following positions.

1. Program Manager

Reporting to the Team Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for 
  • overall management of designated WASH projects and specifically provide professional technical and management services including  production and securing approval of technical designs and drawings, 
  • project management for cost effective and timely delivery of WATSAN infrastructure development;
  •  Ensuring adherence to proscribed standards ( Technical, legal,  sector, and organization specific standards); and Timely quality reporting based on SANA Standards. 
Requirements for appointment
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, a Masters Degree would be added advantages.
  • 4 years relevant experience, 3 of which must be at senior level.
  • Excellent Technical and Programme management skills, including practical hands-on experience in Technical Design of Water Schemes, budget, monitoring and financial management. .
  • Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, team player and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and can deliver on agreed timelines.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.
2. Project Officer
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the incumbent will co-ordinate all the project software activities including community mobilization, organization and development, hygiene education and promotion activities, Participatory Project Monitoring and Evaluation while ensuring timely attainment of Watsan Infrastructure development targets in accordance to the project workplans as agreed with respective project donor.

Requirements for appointment

  • Higher National Diploma in Community Development / Environmental studies / Public Health. A Bachelor’s Degree in the same will be an added advantage.
  • 5 years relevant work experience – which should include School WASH
  • Excellent programme management skills, including experience in budget monitoring and financial management procedures and experience of leading training schedules..
  • Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills and team player.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and can deliver on agreed timelines.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.

3. Clerk of Works

Reporting to the Program Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the following key tasks.

Key tasks to be performed:

  • Ensuring that the standards of work and the materials supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information and corresponding designs and drawing specifications.
  • To ensure that a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained for each contract, via site visits, assessing contract implementation with due regard to building and health and safety legislation.
  • To advise the Engineering Design Teams on standards of quality, finish and compliance with the specification, having due regard to the requirements of the approved budgets and the money being expended.
  • To monitor the performance of contractors and consultants on site and to ensure that engineering installations are constructed in accordance with drawings and specifications provided. This will involve certification of all construction works.
Requirements for appointment
  • Diploma in building construction and civil engineering works.
  • 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Safety Representative and knowledge of Facility maintenance and expansion projects.
  • Understanding of building drawings, standards and specifications.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, team player and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and can deliver on agreed timelines.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.
  • Use of computer based design soft ware will be a mandatory requirement.
  • Experience in use of ISSB will be an added advantage
4. Internship
These positions will be suitable for fresh graduates from Technical Training Institutes and Universities.

4. a Public Health

  • Applicants should be holders of degree or diploma in Community Health / Environmental studies / Public health.
  • Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Focused and willing to gain experience in the relevant field
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.
4. b Human Resource Management
  • Applicants should be holders of Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Focused and willing to gain experience in the relevant field
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.
