Position: Accountant

Location: Kenya

Main Accountabilities:

The ideal candidate will be expected to collect documentation for the operation of the plant. Carry out postings on SAP and Excel. Accurate allocation of transactions to cost centres and general ledger accounts. Prepare accurate product cost calculations for all products produced by the plant. Perform month end closing activities relevant to the plant. Perform year end closing and liaise with auditors on topics relevant to the plant. Prepare financial reports to management. Maintain internal controls at the site, for example petty cash physical controls over fixed assets and adequate authorization of expenses. Prepare and perform regular stock counts and ensure adequate internal controls are in place for inventory. Analyze inventory balances and prepare monthly valuation reports and stock adjustments when applicable. Preparation of monthly General ledger reconciliations – specific to the plant in Kenya Liaise with Finance personnel in Johannesburg to resolve queries.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a relevant tertiary qualification in BCom Accounting or Finance. Have at least three years working experience in a similar role or division. A candidate who has completed Articles would preferable.

Fluency in English as well as the ability to communicate with people across all levels. Strong systems proficiency in all MS Office Programs as well SAP is required. Training in Accounting and Tax issues would be an added advantage.
