Systems Administrator

We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Systems Administrator – (ZC/HR/02/14/SA/01).

Key Responsibilities

Among other duties, he/she will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in coordinating, planning, facilitating and communicating project milestones and activities for major MIS projects;
  • MIS installations on server-client environment and associated upgrades and configurations;
  • Administration of MIS databases (MS SQL Server 2008R2 and MySQL) including backups, replication, optimization and performance tuning;
  • Training staff on MIS applications;
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions;
  • Suggesting improvements and/or new applications regarding MIS exploitation;
  • Documentation of new and existing MIS applications;
  • Administration of existing MIS applications i.e. KOHA Library System, ERP, Moodle Learning Management System and Google Apps;
  • Management of institutional website and associated portals;
  • Generic system administration tasks;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The suitable candidate should have;
  • At least a Diploma Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical and electronics Engineering or any other related field;
  • At least one year working experience in a similar position;
  • Proven experience in RDBMS (SQL Server 2008R2 and MySQL) with an emphasis on replication techniques, SQL scripting, security, backup and optimization. Holders of a certification in this area will have a definite advantage;
  • Familiarity with Visual Basic and the .Net development framework;
  • Exposure to wide variety of web technologies i.e. HTML, CSS, ASP, JS, AJAX and PHP, among others ;
  • Familiarity with SDLC and project management principles;
  • Ability to work with crystal reports or generate ad-hoc reports from RDBMS
  • General knowledge in systems administration not limited to MIS;
  • Unquestionable integrity and ability to preserve confidentiality and data integrity;
  • Ability to work and relate well with others in a team setup;
  • Good communication skills with both the technical and non technical audience;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines;

Librarian

We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Librarian (ZC/HR/02/13/LIB/01).
Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Librarian, the Assistant Librarian will work in one of the college Libraries. Among other duties, he/she will be responsible for:
  • Cataloguing and classification of reading materials;
  • Registration and orientation of Library clients;
  • Issuing and receiving library materials;
  • Indexing and abstracting of past papers, manuals and syllabi according to the relevant codes;
  • Ensuring the proper implementation of Library policies;
  • Innovation and creation of new ideas to improve library services.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The desired candidate must have:
  • A minimum of a Bsc. Library and Information Sciences or Bachelor of Library Degree or Bsc. Information Science with a bias in Library from a recognized university;
  • At least 1 year working experience in a busy library;
  • Proficiency in library policies and procedures, ethics and professional standards operations;
  • Excellent management, leadership and communication skills;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision;
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and high moral ethics;
