Assistant Head of Human Resources

Job Purpose: Dealing with employee relations matters in liaison with the Head of  Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities

The applicant should be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the following areas:

  • Employee training and development
  • Management and compilation of employee records
  • Compilation and coordination of payroll data inputs, payroll taxes and statutory deductions.
  • Management of employee benefits including pension scheme.
  • Management of work permits in compliance with immigration laws.
  • Development and implementation of HR polices.
  • Strategic planning in Human Resources
  • Management of employee grievance and discharge procedures.
  • Performance management and evaluation.
Educational / Professional Qualifications & Experience
Education: Undergraduate degree in business or social Sciences from an accredited university.
Profession: Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management from an accredited institution.
Experience: 5 years in a busy HR department as well as experience in using HR systems (Please indicate which system).

USIU is seeking to recruit a qualified candidate for the position of :

Research Analyst

Job Purpose:  In charge of data collection, management and analysis, drafting reports and managing projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performs programming, institutional studies and analysis tasks using SPSS, Excel, Access, and other software as appropriate. 
  • Programs questionnaires in Survey Monkey and other software.
  • Coordinates field surveys and data collection
  • Performs programming and data analysis tasks using statistical software
  • Performs data mining from the data warehouse.
  • Prepares summary report for institutional data that supports institutional decision making
  • Assists with drafting and editing of project reports and methodological reports as assigned.
2. Acts as Project Coordinator for research projects as assigned.
  • Prepares time lines for assigned projects.
  • Assists with budget preparation and budget revisions for assigned projects.
  • Submits brief, written report on project progress each week to supervisor and reports on project progress, needs, and plans.
  • Coordinates with Head of Institutional Research regarding scheduling or resource problems affecting timely completion of assigned projects and any issues affecting survey quality.
3. Allocates tasks to and coordinates research assistants.
4. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Educational / Professional Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics or in a related field that involves research design, implementation and analysis from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in institutional data analysis in an educational environment
  • Knowledge of SPSS, STATA (Knowledge of any other statistical package is an added advantage).
Skills
  • Excellent data extraction skills from a variety of databases
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to extract  and compile data Enterprise Resource Planning Software such as CARS
  • Demonstrated competency in Excel, SPSS, STATA or any other statistical software.
  • Understanding of database management procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Experience in programming and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
Job Competencies
  • Understanding of statistical techniques for the social sciences.
  • Ability to pay attention to details, prioritize projects and set and meet deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal information and data in accordance with the university’s policy.
