CARREL is currently shortlisting for suitably qualified individuals to fill the post of a project manager –Enterprise applications.

The role of the Project Manager at Carrel Technologies is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. 
This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. 
The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements from beginning to the end.
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
  • Effectively enforce project standards, prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, project stakeholders and other members of the project team
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis, chair project steering committee meetings
  • Work with business development department in drafting and submitting budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Where required, negotiate with other staff and managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Ensure internal and external clients are regularly updated on progress on business applications projects, also ensure that clients pay the project fees, and reporting the same to the company accounts department.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to projects personnel
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools and track such milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify and document successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • The project manager will also in liaison with the business development department create new business ideas opportunities and new projects.
  • Perform any other duties that may be requested by the directors with recognition of the capacity and capability to deliver on the requested assignments.
Desired Qualities
  • Experience managing enterprise applications projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Experience in technology related areas including: enterprise systems management and infrastructure (datacenter) architecture experience with significant depth around designing, implementing, and managing critical business infrastructure. 
  • Engagement experience should include IT strategy initiatives, database and applications, and leveraging overall technical architecture knowledge across multiple industries
  • Ability to travel up to 80%
  • The individual should have extensive architectural skills dealing with infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity.
  • Expert level knowledge of x86 operating systems, advanced networking, storage architectures
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills
  • Must be effective in a team setting and motivation
  • Ability to uncover business challenges and develop a custom solution to solve those challenges
  • He or she should be an accomplished presenter of technical material to both small and large groups. The ability to present extemporaneously is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience
