Sanergy is a social venture that is building a sustainable sanitation network throughout Nairobi’s slums, by creating a network of local entrepreneurs who run small-scale sanitation centers. 
It is our goal to provide affordable, accessible and hygienic sanitation services to individuals, thereby making a valuable contribution to their communities.
We have launched over 300 Fresh Life Toilets in Nairobi and plan to expand rapidly in the upcoming period.

Role & Responsibilities

The Specifications and Sourcing Officer will be responsible for developing item specifications and identifying a group of vendors who will be subject to the procurement process. 
The main responsibilities include:
  • Create raw material and product specifications in liaison with client departments.
  • Identify potential manufacturers and vendors that would manufacture or supply the above raw materials and collect data on the suitability of those vendors or manufactures to deliver the set requirements. Forward this information to the procurement department to guide in the tender award process that must be done in accordance with the procurement policy.
  • Participate in the goods-in and goods-out inspection processes. Collect data on the performance of both internal and external suppliers.
  • Maintain a database of Engineering vendors and contractors and the items they sell or the services they provide.
  • Maintain a database of the performance of the above vendors or contractors.
  • Work with client departments to make a business case for outsourcing vs. in-house manufacturing or supply.
  • Assist the Facilities and Procurement departments in vetting contractors for construction, facility upgrade projects, equipment maintenance and installation.
  • Assist the Facilities department in analyzing maintenance skills set that need to be brought in-house (or otherwise) so as to optimize on the cost of maintenance.
  • Form the procurement committee for approving equipment maintenance requests.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
  • Diploma in an Engineering Related Field.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience as a buyer in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Diversified buyer experiences in other sectors other than manufacturing or engineering will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a person who is market oriented, cost consciousness and must have quality mindedness.
  • Must be a person with excellent interpersonal skills, unquestionable integrity, team player and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other design applications will be an added advantage.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
